Day One—Saturday, May 20, 2006
Depart Columbus, Ohio, for overnight flight to Dublin, Ireland. Dinner and breakfast aloft.

Day Two—Sunday, May 21
Arrive Dublin. Board motorcoach for transfer to Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains. Visit Celtic sites associated with St. Kevin including monastery ruins, the Round Tower, and the Cathedral. From the Visitor Centre stroll among the lakes and other points of interest in this beautiful part of Ireland. Late afternoon return to Dublin, settle into hotel, and enjoy dinner together. Evening free. Overnight Dublin.

Day Three— Monday, May 22
Morning tour of Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland, situated on the banks of the River Liffey. Visit: Trinity College, where we will see the Book of Kells; the Chester Beatty Museum, where we will see one of the earliest manuscripts of the New Testament; and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Afternoon free to explore the city before joining the group for dinner. Overnight Dublin.

Day Four— Tuesday, May 23
Morning departure for Northern Ireland, stopping enroute at Celtic sites (Hill of Tara, Cross of Murdock, the round tower, and the monastic ruins at Monasterboice); Mellifont Abbey; and the high crosses in the village of Kells. Afternoon arrival in Armagh. Time permitting, we will visit the two cathedrals of St. Patrick (one Roman Catholic, one Anglican) before dinner together. Evening free. Overnight Armagh.

Day Five— Wednesday, May 24
Morning transfer to Downpatrick, traditional burial site of St. Patrick; visit the new St. Patrick Centre. Afternoon arrival in Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland. Visit “Little Lea,” boyhood home of C.S. Lewis; see lifesize sculpture of Lewis and his wardrobe in the courtyard of Holywood Arches Library. (May be able to meet the sculptor, Ross Wilson.) Take fraternal greetings from RBC to Belfast Bible College on a brief visit to that campus. Dinner together; evening free. Overnight Belfast.

Day Six— Thursday, May 25
Morning free. Noon departure via high speed ferry for Stranraer, Scotland. Drive along beautiful Scottish coast; dinner stop in Glasgow. Evening arrival in Oban. Overnight Oban.

Day Seven— Friday, May 26
Early morning ferry to Mull and Iona. Unplanned day to explore this important Celtic site. Late afternoon return via ferry to Mull and Oban. Dinner together; evening free. Overnight Oban.

Day Eight— Saturday, May 27
Morning departure for Edinburgh via Trossachs National Park, Loch Lomond, and Stirling Castle. Late afternoon arrival in Edinburgh. Dinner together; evening free. Overnight Edinburgh.

Day Nine— Sunday, May 28
Morning worship at St. Giles Cathedral; remainder of day free to explore exciting Edinburgh. Rejoin group for dinner. Overnight Edinburgh.

Day Ten— Monday, May 29
Early departure for Holy Island (Lindisfarne); several hours to visit this important site and the Northumbria Community. Late-afternoon departure for Durham. Possible stop at Bede’s World exhibit in Jarrow. Overnight Durham.

Day Eleven— Tuesday, May 30
Morning tour of Durham Cathedral; possible visit with N.T. Wright, Bishop of Durham and well-known evangelical scholar. Afternoon departure for York. Overnight York.

Day Twelve— Wednesday, May 31
Morning free to explore the city of York including the magnificent York Minster (Cathedral) and the Jorvik Viking Center. Afternoon departure for London; dinner stop enroute. Overnight London.

Day Thirteen— Thursday, June 1
Morning departure for the university city of Oxford where we will visit C.S. Lewis sites such as his home (“The Kilns”), Magdalen College where he taught, the Sheldonian Theatre, the Bodleian Library, etc. There will likely be some free time to explore the city on your own. Late afternoon return to London. Dinner together; evening free. Overnight London.

Day Fourteen— Friday, June 2
Today we “do London,” one of the world’s great cities. Possible morning motor tour of major sites such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, etc. Afternoon free to explore on your own. We will provide maps and counsel for how to make the most of the available time. Dinner together; evening free. Overnight London.

Day Fifteen— Saturday, June 3
Morning departure for daytrip to the university city of Cambridge, where C.S. Lewis completed his teaching career. Same sort of sites as in Oxford plus time for exploring on your own. Afternoon return to London. Dinner together; evening worship, opportunity for reflection on the trip, then packing for home. Overnight London.

Day Sixteen— Sunday, June 4
Morning departure for airport (Heathrow or Gatwick); return flight to US. Early evening arrival in Columbus.
