School Day Out
Several decades ago a tradition of taking the RBC family to a state park for the day began and has continued to this day. During the fall sememster we travel to John Bryan State Park and during the spring semester we travel to Hocking Hills State Park. The days begin early as we travel to the park for a huge breakfast of scrambled eggs, Lil’ Smokies, Der Dutchman donuts, toast, coffee, and juice. After breakfast, the day is spent hiking, playing cards, ultimate Frisbee, napping, or just hanging out with friends. The day concludes with a hamburger cookout and then we head back to campus. We usually arrive back at RBC by 6:00 pm.
Mennonite Hymnal: Hymn 606
Every other Wednesday our chapel service is an old–fashioned hymn sing conducted in the gym. We end the chapel with a resounding rendition of Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow. Any attempt to deviate from this pattern usually meets with resistance from the students.
Ice Cream & Popcorn
Every Sunday evening we have the tradition of serving ice cream and popcorn in the cafeteria after the evening service. This is a great time to hang out with your friends, play games, and of course—eat ice cream and popcorn!
Final Exam Study Night
An up and coming tradition is for
Student Council to host a late night study party in the coffee shop and student lounge on the night before final exams. During this night, study groups form around the coffee shop tables and in the lounge as great food is served for free.
Disc Golf
When the weather cooperates, you will find many students leaving the cafeteria after lunch to toss a quick round before class. If you look carefully you will notice that several faculty members often squeeze in a round before returning to the office.
